Meguiar’s SwirlX: #205 Ultra Finishing Polish in a 16 oz. Bottle?

Meguiar's SwirlX Car PolishAccording to my sources, Meguiar's SwirlX and Meguiar's #205 Ultra Finishing Polish are "basically" the same car polishes packaged for different markets. My own use of both products confirms this suspicion.

Meguiar's staff claim their newest generation technology car polishes rank in the following order of aggressiveness:

  1. Meguiar's M105 Ultra Cut Compound (most aggressive)
  2. Meguiar's Ultimate Compound
  3. Meguiar's ScratchX 2.0
  4. Meguiar's SwirlX
  5. Meguiar's M205 Ultra Finishing Polish (least aggressive)

If there is a difference in cut (aggressiveness) between SwirlX and #205, it's so slight as to be almost insignificant.  However, that's not the real story here.

The real story is the $8.99 price on a 16 oz. bottle of Meguiar's SwirlX, which is like getting Meguiar's M205 at 70% off MSRP. I've seen other online sellers offering this same Meguiar's car polish for $10.99.

This is a fantastic car polish value.  Especially if you need to annihilate swirl marks or bring back the gloss lost to winter driving.

SwirlX, as well as the rest of the Meguiar's polishes listed above, use the new Super Micro Abrasive Technology (SMAT).  The new generation of fine abrasives work much longer, and when used properly, you will use far less polish.  That's because the polish does not break down, as with the previous generations.  It keeps cutting.  I will cover this topic more in an upcoming how-to.

For maintaining a beautiful paint finish on your car, Meguiar's SwirlX rocks!
