Does anyone know anything about dual action polishers?

I made a few scratches in my car (silver paint) and I am wondering if I buy a dual action polisher if that would get the scratches out. The scratches are not very deep. I think this method would be much cheaper than repainting my whole car. Any tips on doing this? Such as brands to buy or on how to do it the right way?!
